CHAMPION’S PROFILE: Consistency Delivers U-CAR Title to Ricker
JANUARY 28, 2014
ROANOKE, VA :: Chad Ricker proved that consistency wins championships. Ricker may not have won any races but he scored nine podium finishes in 10 races at Franklin County Speedway in 2013 en route to the championship in the U-CAR division.
“It was a huge win,” Ricker said. “My father and I had always worked on the cars together. His health and age don’t allow him to do that anymore so we’ve had lack of resources and funding over the tears. This year I was on my own and was able to secure my first championship. It was more of a family thing to accomplish that not only for me but for my father as well.”
Ricker described the 2013 season as a dream season in spite of not visiting victory lane.
“It was really a dream year,” Ricker stated. “We didn’t get any wins which is always a letdown but every week we continued to get better and we were always in position to capitalize on the win. We lost the battle but we still won the war and we accomplished what we wanted to on the year.”
Ricker finished either second or third in all but one race in 2013. His lone finish outside the top-three was a sixth place finish. Ricker says he plans on racing in defense of his U-CAR track title in 2014.
“I’ve got to thank my family, friends and fellow races that supported us and helped us through the years,” Ricker commented. “Want to thank the fans as well. Without everybody’s help, this wasn’t even a possibility so this was really a team effort and we look forward to winning our second one in 2014.”
The season opener at Franklin County Speedway is set for Sunday afternoon, April 13th with the second running of the Racing Dynamiks 200.
